BEYOND TERROR : THE FILMS OF LUCIO FULCI
Fulchi is either the best or the worst of the gialloist. His films obsess, build and boil over the previously “stylistic” sadism of Italian horror. Transposed to his favorite imagined hell, New York City circa 1977, Fulchi’s films are humorously and demonstratively nauseating. The violence seems both more and less than just performed; it is acutely simulated, falling just a razor edge on the camp side of snuff.
